The One Sure Thing

Have you ever noticed that most of the things around us constantly change? How many situations turn out different than expected?
Sometimes I get frustrated with how fast changing things are, and how fast paced our lives are. There is basically nothing we can count on anymore. But you know why that doesn’t matter? I have a simple answer for you… JESUS. Jesus is always the answer (sorry I had to put that in there, I couldn’t resist… talk about growing up as a Sunday school kid)
Jesus is the one thing in our lives that doesn’t change. His character is always the same, How much he loves us has never changed, He has always and will always be with us, His holy spirit will always be inside those who believe and What he did on the cross to save us is no less effective than the day he rose from the grave.
It can be hard to remember all that when it feels as though our lives are falling apart, or when we get discouraged, or when bad thing after another come at you, or when the devil is screaming lies in your ear, or when you feel inadequate or whatever else goes on in our lives and in our minds. I have two important words that help us in those situations. Trust and Hope. We have to trust that Jesus IS always the same, that he WILL always help us, that he IS who he says he is. Also we have to cling to our hope that this world is going to fade and that Heaven is our real HOME.
There will be no more sin, anger, fear, sadness, loneliness, regret, and anxiety. All that will remain are good things like Laughter, Love, Freedom, Peace, Joy, Awe, and Celebration.
Trusting God can be a difficult task but it is one that will totally be worth it in the end. I definitely don’t have it figured out but I am on my way. Our hope is not in this world thank goodness,  what a mess  it is. Heaven is the only thing we can count on, this world is not the solution it is the problem. Heaven now that is the perfect solution.
You should definitely check out these two songs, Christ Tomlin’s song Home and The Colour’s song One Sure Thing. Those songs are perfect to go along with what I wrote. I love music and it inspires me so much. I practically think in song lyrics.

My Daily Declaration

I wrote this because I felt God telling me, there are a few things you need to remind yourself of everyday, so I begin to write it out and it turned into this, I really hope you appreciate it and I hope that God speaks to you through it:

Surrender: Today I declare that I am a child of God. I have victory through him. I have freedom through him. I surrender my circumstances to you, my feelings and emotions. I surrender control of my life to you. Lord, I am yours and you are mine
Armor: In the name of Jesus, I put on my spiritual armor. I put on my belt of truth, I put on my body armor of righteousness, I put on the shoes of peace, I will hold up my shield of faith, I put on salvation as my helmet and I take up my sword of the spirit-God’s word.
Resisting the devil: I will resist the devil in the name of Jesus, I will be firmly planted in the Love of Christ, and in him I will not be moved. I belong to Jesus and in his name the devil must flee. In the presence of the Holy Spirit and in the name of Jesus Christ, devil you must go and never return.
Prayer of protection: Lord I pray that you would protect me against the schemes and plans of the enemy. That my mind and my heart would be focused only on you. That my eyes would see through your eyes. That my mind would only think of good, pure, lovely and wholesome thoughts.
Truth: I am loved, I am never alone, I am strong through Jesus, I am accepted, I am filled with the Lord’s spirit, I am capable of anything in his strength, I am redeemed, I am at peace, I am growing, I am not defined by my mistakes, I am fearless, I am undefeated with the Lord by my side
TODAY THESE ARE THE THINGS I DECLARE IN THE STRENGTH AND PRESENCE OF MY GOD, I AM HIS CREATION AND I WILL BE A REFLECTION OF WHO HE WAS, WHO HE IS AND WHO HE WILL ALWAYS BE.

The Struggle Is Real

This statement can be used in many contexts the one I am referring to is the fact that our struggle is real. We are fighting against an enemy whose only plan is to steal, kill and destroy. There is a real spiritual battle that is waging over us.
The enemy uses simple methods with a powerful force. We know his tricks, he lies, convinces us into negative thinking and makes us feel powerless and weak. But knowing that and being in those thoughts are different. When we are in those thoughts we feel surrounded, we feel trapped and we may not even realize what is going on. At other times we feel strong and powerful and say not today devil, not today.
God allows us to be in those weak times because he wants us to realize we desperately need him, we are not strong enough without him. When we feel like we have it all together, we don’t. If we need to cry out to God, that is when he grows our faith and our character.
As much as we would like this process to be easy, that fact is that it will not be easy. We will suffer, struggle, and make mistakes. We need to remember that we are not defined by our mistakes. We are children of a mighty God who will never be defeated, nothing is impossible with God, and he can and one day will overpower satan completely.
In the meantime we need to take up our spiritual armour that is found in Ephesians 6 and We need to pray in his holy name. Prayer is one very important tool in this life that we have ben given, second is the armor.
The reason we have this picture of a warrior in armor is because this is a battle and every good warrior needs some protection against the enemy. We have a loving God who has given us what we need. The question is: Will we take up these weapons and fight?
Also there is an amazing book to read called The battleplan for prayer by the Kendrick brothers.

The Whole Armor of God: Ephesians 6:10-18
“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s  righteousness.  For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”
