2 Corinthians 8
(v.2) “They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.” They weren't rich or blessed in an earthly manner but a heavenly manner, like Joy and Love of service, and those things even amidst trials. Which for most of us is hard to do. When we are tested with troubles we don't always think of love and generosity when we are dealing with trials, we just get all caught up in ourselves and our own problems, and turn inward instead of turning outward and giving praise to God because he has given you this trial and because it could be worse or even because he can and he will deliver us. Shifting our focus or perspective can help us turn to God and not our problems. We as a culture are so self absorbed into our own problems and we are supposed to focus on us and fix our self get myself out of this... But God created us for dependency on him, and giving us community to carry and uplift one another and we share our struggles and move forward knowing that we don't have to do it on our own and the fact that God is eagerly expecting and waiting and wanting to help us.
(v. 7) “Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us —I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.” Even though you are good in those areas, there is still room for growth, we may think that we have grown so much but we never stop growing on this earth we will not amount to perfect especially not on our own. God comes in and he gives us the strength to carry on and grow and strive for perfection but we can't condemn our selves when we don't succeed it's about God's strength coming in when we are run down and his Holy Spirit filling in the rest of what we need. No it won't be easy but yes it will be possible. We need to continue to grow in every area. Some people... Me included...will think they need to tackle every situation or reaction perfectly all the time, without even asking God for help. We ask God when and how he wants us to grow. Being patient for an answer and even more patience and faith to wait for his timing. To me it seems like one of the common things in life is being for patience, for me it is almost an everyday basis.
(v.15) “As the Scriptures say, “Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough.” Sometimes God only gives us enough...enough information, enough money, enough this and that. The reason he gives us just enough sometimes is because he wants us to turn to him and as him to be enough for us just like the song "Christ is enough". We are asking him to be enough so we can trust that he will give us enough. Because our God is who he says he is.
