Holding me together

Romans 7:15, 18b-19
“I don't really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don't do it. Instead, I do what I hate. I want to do what is right, but I cant. I want to do what is good, but I don't. I don't want ti do what is wrong, but I do it anyway”

I think many christians if not all relate to this verse one way or another. To me this verse is talking about our daily struggle to choose things of the spirit over things of the flesh. Our flesh is weak and wants to do what feels right but not what is right. Our spirit wants us to what is right, but our flesh can get in the way. It is definitely easier to follow the flesh, it is what we are inclined to do as humans. Just because it is easy, doesn't mean it is right, easy is just a choice that we would rather have. I know, I would like things to be easier at times and I get very discouraged when things are constantly and continually hard. Life is going to be hard, thats the true and harsh reality, but there is something amazing, and even better than our biggest imaginations can comprehend in store for us in Christ, it is called HEAVEN.

I truly believe, more and more lately that heaven and being with Jesus for eternity is really all we have to cling to. It is our only hope. It is definitely hard to believe life is short compared to eternity. Some days feel like an eternity, filed with never ending problems and struggles. And it is easy to give up, but hard to keep going. Lately I have felt like I have been in a deep valley, I so desperately want to be on the mountain top. We will never fully enjoy the mountain top without having to go through the valley first. If we are always on the mountain top we will never truly and fully be able to appreciate it, if we go through the valley we have a reason to fight and keep going, our hope is always there. Jesus promised to never leave us despite how we may feel, he is always right there, it seems better to do it on your own, but really, it is never a good idea. He is always waiting to hear from us and to comfort us. We just have to start talking and listening. I am tired of having my emotions take control, I want to be past this problem, and overcome it already, but I will be okay, even if I feel like I am falling apart, he is holding me together.

“Thought that I was all alone, broken and afraid
but you were there with me, yes you were there with me
Even though the journey’s long and I know the road is hard, well the one who’s gone before me he will help me carry-on, after all that I’ve been through now I realize the truth, that I must go through the valley to stand up on the mountain of God”              (Mountain of God by Third Day)

I’m feeling stronger with you by my side, and I realize you are my hope I need to know
Can you hold me together, can your love reach down this far, can you hold me together because without you holding my heart I’m falling apart, Without you, I’m falling apart
