Lately I have been reading a book called Live Fearless By
Sadie Robertson. I love this book, it is full of information inspired by her
own struggle with fear. Things she did that gave her victory and things that
God showed her through her struggle. You don’t just read this book, you get challenged
to memorize scripture, and to ask God deep personal questions.
There are many things I took out of this book, but one of
them that stood out to me was the fact that it is okay to do things afraid. It doesn’t
matter how you feel about something, whether you are nervous, anxious, or
afraid. The only thing that matters is that you are obedient to God and what he
is asking you to do. Our feelings should not be relied on, they are something
the devil uses to take advantage of us.
Something I have challenged myself on is to actually do
things that scare me, If it is something I know God wants me to do or overcome,
I am going to do it, end of story. I know I let fear and my emotions have
control over me, but God overcame the grave to give us victory. I want to
experience it and live in freedom.
I love how God uses other people’s struggles, songs, and words
of wisdom to help others gain victory in their own lives. That is what God
expects of us: Galatians 6:1-2 says “Dear brothers and sisters, if another
believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly
help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the
same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the
law of Christ.”
I am going to share a quote that she gave in the book that
aligns with what I am talking about “I learned that courage was not the absence
of fear, but the triumph over it…The brave man is not he who does not feel
afraid, but he who conquers that fear”- By Nelson Mandela
Now I am going to end with sharing some of the other inspiring
things that caught my attention:
-In our
brokenness God’s light shines the brightest.
-Do not be
afraid [Insert your name] as you are facing [Insert your struggle] because the
Lord is with you wherever you go.
-Who is
talking? You or your fear?
-Once you
get to the other side of fear, you will be able to laugh at your fears.
-Starve fear,
don’t feed it.
-Navigating situations,
we have no control over is a necessary step toward breaking free from fear.
