I feel like I spend more time talking than listening. I know that in the bible it tells us to be Quick to listen and slow to speak, but at times it seems easier said then done, literally. I find it easy to speak, and at times hard to listen. I like to think I am good at listening, but deep down I know I need to improve.
I also know I am impatient and I like things to happen in my own timing, even though I know patience is a fruit of the spirit and something God wants us to become, and that his timing is best.
I can be hard on myself and expect myself to be better then this, after all I am a christian and have been for many years.
I could go on and on about things I want to change or improve on. I want the process to be quick and painless, when in reality it is the exact opposite. We have our whole lives to improve on this area or that area, we will not be perfect, not in this lifetime. God will perfect us one day. While we are on the earth we need to take it one step at a time and one day at a time. I have improved in many areas of my life and I know I still have a long way to go.
The good news is that change doesn't happen overnight, and God doesn't expect us to. We may want it to, but that’s not how life works. We mess up, we grow, we mess up and we grow, etc... But IT IS possible, it may seem to be an endless cycle of ups and downs, but we aren't meant to live on this earth. We have a better and more consistent place to go home to. In the meantime it will be hard and it will be a struggle, but we have hope, a hope that will not put us to shame. We have someone waiting for us, he is with us now, we are not on our own, he is right here, right now helping us along every part of our lives, even the little moments when he seems far away, he is always right there.
Growing is never fun, but it is worth it. I definitely mess up a lot and don’t always feel confident in my progress or growth. I have many struggles, and I have hard days, often. But you know what, that’s ok, we are human and it takes time, and God is patient with us, even when we are not, he is the constant and the perfecter, but he knows we are human and we have many faults, but that didn't stop him from dying for us, literally to save our souls. He didn't go through that just to leave us now, he is walking with us, day by day, moment by moment.
